The Witness to God’s Perfection in Creation and Law

For the director of music. A Psalm of David.

1THE heavens declare the glory of God;
the sky proclaims the work of His hands.

2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge. 3 There is no speech, no language,
where their voice is not heard. 4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.   In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun,
5which is like a bridegroom coming forth from the bridal canopy, and like a champion rejoicing to run the course. 6 Its rising is from one end of the heavens,
and it makes its circuit to the other end, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.   7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the Lord are right,
bringing joy to the heart. The commandments of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes. 9 The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are true,
and altogether righteous. 10 They are more desirable than gold,
than much fine gold; they are sweeter than honey,
than honey dripping from the comb. 11 Moreover, by them Your servant is warned,
and keeping them brings great reward.   12 Who can discern his own errors?
Cleanse me from my hidden faults. 13 Keep Your servant from wilful sins;
let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be upright,
and innocent of great transgression.   14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
