Psalm 147

God Restores Jerusalem and Zion

1PRAISE the Lord!   How good it is to sing praises to our God;
for praise is pleasant and fitting.   2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
He gathers in the exiles of Israel. 3 He heals the broken-hearted,
and binds up their wounds.   4 He determines the number of the stars,
He gives names to all of them. 5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite. 6 The Lord lifts up the humble,
but casts the wicked to the ground.   7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
make music to our God with the lyre. 8 He covers the heavens with clouds,
prepares rain for the earth, and causes grass to grow on the hills. 9 He provides the animals with their food,
and the young ravens, when they cry out.   10 His delight is not in the strength of a horse,
nor does He take pleasure in the legs of a man, 11 the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
those who put their hope in His faithful love.   12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise Your God, O Zion! 13 For He strengthens the bars of your gates;
he blesses your children within you. 14 He grants peace within your borders,
and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.   15 He sends out His command to the earth;
His word runs swiftly. 16 He spreads snow like wool,
and scatters the frost like ashes. 17 He hurls down His hail like crumbs.
Who can withstand before His icy cold? 18 He sends out His word and melts them;
He stirs up His winds to blow, and the waters flow.   19 He declares His word to Jacob,
His statutes and His judgments to Israel. 20 He has not done this for any other nation;
they do not know His laws.   Praise the Lord!
