Man’s Wickedness and God’s Love

For the director of music. A Psalm of David, the servant of the Lord.

1know this within my heart:
sin speaks to the wicked.

There is no fear of God
before his eyes. 2 For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much
to recognize his own iniquity and abhor it. 3 The words of his mouth are malicious and deceitful;
he has ceased to be wise and to do good. 4 He devises mischief on his bed;
he sets himself on a path that is not good; and does not reject evil.   5 Your great love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens,
Your faithfulness to the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
Your judgments are like the great deep. O Lord, You preserve both man and beast.
7How precious Your faithful love is, O God! All people may take refuge
in the shadow of Your wings. 8 They feast on the abundance of Your house;
You give them drink from Your river of delight. 9 With You is the fountain of life;
in Your light we see light.   10 Continue Your faithful love with those who know You,
and Your righteousness to the upright in heart. 11 Do not let the foot of the arrogant come against me,
or the hand of the wicked drive me away. 12 There the evildoers lie fallen;
they have been thrown down and cannot rise.
