1O give thanks to the Lord, call on His name;
make known His deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
tell of His wonderful works!
3 Honour His holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Search for the Lord and His strength;
seek His face always.
5 Remember the marvellous works He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments He pronounced,
6 O offspring of His servant Abraham,
O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
7 He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
8 He remembers His covenant forever,
of the word that He commanded, for a thousand generations,
9 the covenant He made with Abraham,
and the oath He swore to Isaac.
10 He confirmed it to Jacob as a statute,
and to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
11 “To you I will give the land of Canaan
the allotment you will inherit.”
12 When they were but few in number,
very few, and strangers in it,
13 and they wandered from one nation to another,
and from one kingdom to another people,
14 He allowed no one to oppress them;
He rebuked kings for their sake:
15 “Do not touch My anointed ones,
and do My prophets no harm.”
16 When He called down a famine upon the land;
He broke down every source of food,
17 and He sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
18 His feet they hurt with fetters,
his neck was put in irons,
19 until the time his predictions were fulfilled,
the word of the Lord tested him.
20 The king sent and released him,
the ruler of the people set him free;
21 He made him master of his household,
ruler over all he possessed,
22 to direct his princes at his pleasure,
and teach his elders wisdom.
23 Then Israel went to Egypt;
Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham.
24 The Lord made His people very fruitful;
He made them too numerous for their foes,
25 whose hearts He turned to hate His people,
to deal treacherously with His servants.
26 He sent Moses His servant,
and Aaron whom He had chosen.
27 They performed His miraculous signs among them,
His wonders in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness, and made the land dark—
for had they not defied His commands?
29 He turned their waters into blood,
and caused their fish to die.
30 Their land swarmed with frogs,
even in the chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies,
and gnats throughout their country.
32 He gave them hail for rain,
and lightning throughout their land.
33 He struck their vines and their fig trees,
and shattered the trees of their country.
34 He spoke, and the locusts came,
young locusts without number;
35 they ate up all the vegetation in their land,
and devoured the produce of their ground.
36 He struck down all the firstborn in their land,
the first part of all their strength.
37 He brought Israel out with silver and gold,
and no one among their tribes stumbled.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed,
for the dread of Israel had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a cloud for a covering,
and fire to give light by night.
40 They asked, and He brought them quails,
and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
it flowed in the desert like a river.
42 For He remembered His holy promise
to Abraham His servant.
43 He brought out His people with gladness;
His chosen ones with shouts of joy.
44 He gave them the lands of nations,
and they inherited what others had toiled for,
45 that they might obey His statutes
and obey His laws.
Praise the Lord.
